As a warrior of Clan Wolf (at least in fiction), this is my job - fighting. That is, in theory. MechWarriors spend most of their time preparing for combat or training, and little time actually on the battlefield. Still, the battle is what we all live for. At work, my "desk" is the cockpit of a Clan OmniMech, and my "desktop" is my heads-up display. My tools are searing laser beams, swarms of missiles, and roaring autocannons. My assignment inbox contains notices of enemy war machines that have not yet been obliterated, and my output is shattered, burning heaps of scrap metal. Now, being caught on assignment out in a wasteland alone with a hostile Atlas gives me two options. The Atlas outweigs my Timber Wolf, and is much slower, so I could run away easily. The second option is to [carefully] engage the enemy and put a few SRMs through his cockpit! Guess which I chose? Of course, no one in real life does this, but wouldn't it beat the heck out of your office job? The only drawback is the possible risk of death, but who cares about that?
I know...you'd think they would have been able to create a better "flying debris" effect than black triangles.

Well, my favorite light mech is usually the Kit Fox (Uller), and I also have an Adder (Puma) with a Clan LBX-20 AC mounted. For mediums, I usually go with the Conjuror (Hellhound), and IF I had the Clan expansion set, I would SO use the Arctic Wolf ALL the time! I would love the Mad Dog (Vulture) or the Timber Wolf (Mad Cat) if the game designers had not made their center torso so goshdarned easy to hit! My favorite assault mech is the Dire Wolf (Daishi), on which I usually have 3 Clan LBX-20 ACs. Oh, and I like the Warhawk (Masakari) as well. It's fast for its weight. I hope you don't mind me using the Clan names for the mechs, and you should also know that I GREATLY prefer MechWarrior 2 over MechWarrior 4. It's just not the same feeling...I could really get into MW2. Love your sig, by the way. It's so true!

I don't mind, been with the BT universe since the 90s and I prefer the Clan designation, not the IS tags.
Ya, I played all the Mechwarrior PC games and I believe MW3 was the closest to the BT universe. I just got this name `coz I couldn't grab WolfNet as my DA id some reason.
As for BattleMechs, I only use one in each of the games for multiplayer; MW2 the Marauder IIC (3 ER PPCs, 6 MPLAS); MW3 the Supernova (std config; hot) and the Mad Cat MK II in MW4 (std minus 1 ER med for addtl armor) I prefer sniping and long-range engagements, since most of my buddies are short and mid-range fighters.
Any merc units you like? As you can tell, I'm a Dragoon through and through. Damn the WoBL for nuking Outreach, but payback is a bitch.
And lastly, `bout my sig, thanks. ^^ not a lot of ppl notice.

Yeah, I always called myself the Bloody Wolf, but apparently someone else on DA used that, so I had to use the German translation for it. It doesn't sound that great. Yes, I like the Wolf's Dragoons too, considering they're a splinter sent by Clan Wolf to the Inner Sphere. Word of Blake nuked Outreach?!? I didn't know that...of course, I'm kinda lost on the recent BattleTech storyline since I'm still trying to catch up on Twilight of the Clans. They're all out of print. I don't even know much about what Word of Blake is. Ah well, I need to read more of the Dark Age story and find out what the heck is going on.

It's still a damn good name, sounds Norse. Sorry for spoiling you about the BT universe. Try classicbattletech.com, it's got a very detailed timeline of recent events.
Word of Blake popped its ugly head from 3058 by taking Terra from ComStar then began their Jihad against the Clans and the IS nations in the late 3060s. They began using weapons of mass destruction (nukes, gas, etc.) on Outreach in 3067 and also used `em on the planetary capitals of the Houses. The Clans, meanwhile, were kept in the dark by WoBL cutting HPG links to the Occupied Zones. It's not yet Dark Age, still a part of the original FASA storyline, quiaff?
